I strive to practice both naturopathic primary care and midwifery in a way that is honest, caring and direct. My particular areas of interest include pediatrics and women's health. I am passionate about providing an emotionally safe environment for people to explore their relationship to their own state of health and wellness. I also enjoy serving as a resource for parents who want to learn more about nurturing the young ones in their lives. |

A focus on prevention and wellness is essential to the naturopathic approach. Yearly physical exams and regular well child visits provide an opportunity to address the "big picture" of a person’s health. A thorough history, laboratory testing, physical exam and diet assessment help identify personal health risks and direct recommendations. Nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy, physical medicine, and lifestyle modification are some of the therapies that I frequently recommend. I also offer vaccinations, prescriptive drug management and minor surgery when the need arises. In addition to the health of the physical body, visits also focus on mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
As a midwife, and having given birth to my son at home, I see labor as more of an athletic event than a medical one. I have learned that a solid relationship between a family and their birth team is fundamental to creating an environment in which a woman can labor, and a couple can become parents, feeling joyful and strong.
I live in the neighborhood with my husband Nick and son Charlie. In addition to spending time with my family, I find great joy in walking in the woods, organic gardening and camping. |
